The falcon is capable of flying at speeds over 100km/hr
They can be found in both North and South Islands, and also found on several offshore islands, including Stewart Island and Auckland Islands.
Adult falcons measure between 40cm - 50cm, with the male being smaller than the females.
The highest known density of the species is found in Kaingaroa Pine Forest in the central North Island
